Turkish Wine Challenge© – (TWC), Turkiye’s first and only wine competition with international standards, took place on 7th May 2024. The fourth edition of TWC was successfully delivered by an expert jury of 12 members hailing from the UK, USA, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Turkiye, Slovakia, Malta, The Netherlands, France and Romania.

Turkish and French wines won most of the awards in this year’s competition. France and Czech Republic participated for the first time. The medal achievements were determined by blind tasting, which was carried out only with the knowledge of the residual sugar and the vintage.

This year, 9 Grand Gold, 48 Gold and 27 Silver medals were awarded. Turkiye was awarded with 68 medals, France with 6 medals and Czech Republic with 4 medals, being the top three countries in the medal ranking.

The Georgian wine producer Khareba won three awards with Mukuzani 2020; “TWC2024 Trophy”, “TWC2024 Best Red” and “TWC2024 Best Wine for the Balkans”.

The “TWC2024 Best White” was awarded to Mor Salkim Volante Fume Blanc Chardonnay 2023, Turkiye. Mor Salkim of Bodrum, Turkiye also won the “TWC 2024 Best Rosé” award with Mor Salkim Vivace Merlot 2023.

The “TWC2024 Best Wine for Turkiye” was awarded to Vinolus Rosé 2023.

The entry from Czech Republic with Moraviana Tramin Cerveny 2023 won the “TWC 2024 Best Wine for the UK/Ireland” award.

Jury member Patricia Stefanowicz Master of Wine said “The Turkish Wine Challenge shows an intriguing range of wines. With an international panel of judges, who have a wide range of expertise, the Turkish Wine Challenge delivers a broad, and consistently expert view on the wines. This is a competition not to be missed.”
