Wines from all over the world shine at the Grand International Wine Award. More than 4,500 wines from 35 wine-growing nations around the world were tasted and evaluated at the 29th MUNDUS VINI Grand International Wine Award. More than 120 wine experts travelled to Neustadt an der Weinstraße, located in the heart of the region Pfalz in Germany, for the Summer Tasting. The result: 36 wines were awarded the highest and rare distinction of Grand Gold, 971 wines were awarded Gold and 811 wines were awarded Silver.
This year, wines from Germany in particular proved that they are at the forefront of international comparisons. 3 Grand Gold, 102 Gold and 129 Silver medals went to wineries, winegrowers’ cooperatives and wine cellars from German wine-growing regions.
“We and above all our expert jury, which consisted of 30 different nationalities, were very pleased that the summer tasting could take place again in an almost normal manner. For more than 20 years, MUNDUS VINI has stood for a reliable, neutral and honest evaluation of wines from all over the world. The feedback from our tasters as well as from wineries, retailers and wine lovers shows us that something unique has been created here.” – Christian Wolf, Director Degustation MUNDUS VINI
Internationally, wine producers from Italy were once again able to secure the unofficial title as the most successful winemaking nation. A total of 498 awards (seven Grand Gold, 280 Gold and 211 Silver) were given to the wines tasted. They are followed in the ranking by Spain (339 awards), Germany (234), Portugal (162) and France (119).
